Blues Hold Fans' Conference

Blues Hold Fans' Conference

Everton hosted their first ever Fans' Conference on Tuesday evening.

Almost 200 Season Ticket holders who have already renewed for the 2011/12 Premier League campaign applied to attend the event, which was held in the Peoples' Club lounge at Goodison Park.

The event was tailored specifically to allow fans an opportunity to engage with the Club directly to provide feedback and ask any questions on topics such as investment, our future home, and transfer budgets.

Compere for the evening, Radio City's Alan Irwin, began proceedings by introducing a video highlighting Everton's season so far.

Chief Executive Robert Elstone then addressed the audience with a speech outlining the Club's quest to interact even more closely with the Blues' devoted fanbase on a regular basis, and embrace any feedback on current operations.

He also announced the two main priorities at present - season ticket sales and the budget for 2011/12 - explaining in detail each element of the Club's finance.

Outlining specifically where the money from each season ticket goes, Mr Elstone informed the audience that despite early bird sales falling by around 9% on last year, the Club are pleased with ticket commitment at this stage.

Giving detailed answers to each question posed, Mr Elstone revealed how much financial support is provided to David Moyes to invest in his squad and how much money is given to the youth development programme.

"The last six or seven years have seen continued support for David Moyes and all the money goes into supporting the best possible first-team squad," he said. "We give as much as we can to him to use in the transfer market.

“We invest heavily in the Academy, scouting and youth development so there has been sustained investment.”

First team stars Tim Cahill and Phil Neville and Blues legends Graeme Sharp, Kevin Ratcliffe and Ronnie Goodlass were also in attendance at the event. They were on hand to answer any questions from the floor and sign autographs before Ratcliffe took part in an extended question and answer session to close the event.

"Feedback is vitally important to us, it keeps us on our toes," said Mr Elstone. "It makes us sure of what we're doing right and where we can improve. It's all part of our fan engagement strategy which has been running now for two or three years - we welcome it and we embrace it.

"The Fans' Conference is an opportunity for us to widen our fan engagement further and give them a voice.

"It's critically important to us; it's what allows us to improve the business on a day to day basis."
