Blues Help Raise £20,000
Everton in the Community helps benefit the Prince's Trust
Several former Blues dusted off their boots as Everton in the Community helped to raise £20,000 for the Prince’s Trust.
The Club is a keen supporter of the Trust through EITC, its charitable arm, and was able to help make a Merseyside derby-themed five-a-side tournament a huge success.
Dave Watson, Matt Jackson and Joe Parkinson each led sides made up of employees from participating companies, while there was also a trio of teams led by former Liverpool players.
In the end it was Jackson’s team – comprising staff from financial firm AJ Bell – who came out on top in the final at Blythe Hall, Lathom.
Andy Bell, Chief Executive of AJ Bell, said: “As a massive Everton fan, running out to the Z cars theme and playing against and with our soccer heroes was like a dream come true - beating Liverpool in the final was the icing on the cake.”
Regional director for The Prince’s Trust in the North West, Jackie Tyler, added: “The money raised at this event will help us to change lives.”
Founded in 1976 by the Prince of Wales, the Prince’s Trust raises funds to run training programmes to provide mentoring support and financial grants to help disadvantaged young people gain long-term employment.
The other companies to take part were: A&B Engineering, fund managers Aquarius Equity Partners, Close Asset Management, property firm Ainscough Group and accountancy firm Deloitte.
