England boss Fabio Capello has confirmed Everton pair Phil Jagielka and Leighton Baines will start in Tuesday's friendly with World Cup quarter finalists Ghana at Wembley.
Blues centre half Jagielka will win his ninth cap against the Black Stars alongisde Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill at the heart of the Three Lions backline.
Jagielka always looked set to start after the release of captain John Terry and Tottenham's Michael Dawson following the 2-0 win over Wales on Saturday.
Ashley Cole was also sent back to Chelsea after winning his 88th cap at the Millenium Stadium, meaning Baines will replace him at left back.
Capello confirmed the duo's inclusion in his pre-match press conference.
"Carroll will start and Jagielka will start, along with Baines at left-back too," Capello said.
