Blues Secure Double Contract Boost

Anichebe and Coleman both pen new four-and-a-half year deals.

Blues Secure Double Contract Boost
Seamus Coleman
Victor Anichebe

Victor Anichebe and Seamus Coleman have signed new contracts at Everton.

Both players have penned four-and-a-half year deals, keeping them at the Club until 2015.

Coleman, 22, has been one of this season's success stories, becoming a regular in the Blues' midfield and weighing in with five goals.

Academy product Anichebe, also 22, is back in the first team fray after recovering from a knee injury he suffered in pre-season.

Anichebe pens his new deal

He started the 2-2 draw against Liverpool at the weekend and was instrumental in setting up the second Everton goal for Jermaine Beckford.

His new contract ends speculation linking him with a move away from the Everton, with his previous contract set to expire in the summer.

Coleman signed a new contract in May last year but his progress this term has been impressive enough to see him handed a new deal.

He has made 22 appearances this term, while Anichebe has three starts and three substitute appearances.

Bill Martintotaly agree with Brennan , also did anyone hear IS there an option to buy this kid /?? IF NOT what does it say to our own young lads (duffy etc) if we are bringing in 17yr olds for 6 month loan spell for cover for a position (unless Jags injury is worse than we been told ) that we are covered in ?? Did we pay for the loan ???

Bill HayesGreat about Vic and Mustard . With regards Dier this kid is being chased by every major club in Europe how Moyes has persuaded says something about Moyes and the club coyb

timothy harrisgreat news for us toffees! colman is class. ive nearly forgot about gosling since colman stepped up to the plate. as for young talents not bad idea but I agree that we need prem experince right now. as for the stiker situation I honestly feel beckford will pull thru for us, he works hard on and off the ball. I am excited about this young Araz Abdullayev looks to be a great player for as young as he is. I still want to see gueye play tho coyb!!

Dennis SequerahGreat news, they're for the future. On the other hand, if the Dier news is true, can't understand why we need to loan a young and inexperienced defender who's just 17 for 6 mths unless it includes an option to buy at the end. It was said he wants to play for Sporting's first team first before moving here. If we need back-up we should go for someone more experienced.

Thursday 20th January 20:07 Report Comment

Bill MartinDan . i would hope we werent spending that money on a young centre back when we have Shane Duffy there who is very very promising , im not saying we shouldnt be investing in young talent but our need at this time is for experienced players mainly a centre forward , but if sportings website says we have signed him there must be something in it , seems a misplacing of funds at this time .. what you reckon??

Thursday 20th January 17:41 Report Comment

Mark LynchWell what a difference a day makes!!! wasnt so long ago that reports circulated that Victor wanted away!! glad you saw sense Vic, now lets see the sparkle in your eye when you are playing, Congratulations to both yourself and Coleman..... ;^)

ian wilkinsongood news lets have 15 goals from you now victor and carry on doing what your doing seamus.good luck lads.

Thursday 20th January 16:13 Report Comment

Victor TayIn fact, I feel that Moyes is doing a good job in getting rid of some of the players. Well, Yak seems to be falling off the pecking order and that's why he is gone. In Vaughn case, perhaps Moyes feels that we could afford to let him go now with two other youngsters waiting in the wings - Gueye and Joao Silva. Apart from Peanuts, who is doing well, however, we are going to get some money out of him by letting him go now. Moyes has wasted no time in tying two of our younger players to longer term deals, lets not forget that piece of good work. Let's wait for the REAL deal which I suspect is just round the corner!!!

Edward RobinsonFrom the first time I saw Seamus play I have been an admirer, but I'm afraid that I agree with Mike Noakes, as I've not seen the same skill or input from Victor. However, he's really still coming back after so much injury and it takes time. I wish both lads all the best.

Thursday 20th January 15:43 Report Comment

So disappointedAccording to Sporting's website we've signed the young Englishman Eric Dier who is very highly rated. Centre back who is 17 and represented Sportings under 19's since 16. Looks a promising signing! presume that is where some of nut's money is going as I'm sure he isn't cheap.

Marcel Hosterwow great news after pienaars turn to tottenham ... xD

Thursday 20th January 15:31 Report Comment

mike noakesgreat news about coleman, the jury's still out on anichebe for me. Has all the potential but needs to be fit and strong and maintain his concentration. Desperately need someone to fill pienaar's boots and one class striker(which we can't, unfortunately, afford). I agree we still need to look to build. We have a decent squad and need arteta to come back to his best. If we can find the pennies a couple of strong signings could see us challenging for top four next year.(I thought we would be up there this season but alas no) COYB

Paul Ellamagree with most thats been written - particularly the part about bringing proven players in - thats why i liked the idea of keane up front but i guess its too much money wise. time for moyes to pull that ace from up his sleeve maybe!

Thursday 20th January 13:10 Report Comment

Neil SteeleA bit of good news at least. Congratulations to both lads, they have been earned and I am sure you can both go on to bigger things over the coming years.

David Buchananthats what i like coleman and anichebe signing new deals espically coleman hes brilliant could turn out to world class

Thursday 20th January 12:58 Report Comment

Mikel ArreguiGreat news, Coleman deserves it and I hope Vic can stay injury free and grow his game. But we also need new players urgently, especially at least a good striker, as the squad is getting too thin.

Thursday 20th January 12:56 Report Comment

Bill MartinWell said Peter Williams its very important to build for the future but all we seem to be doing at the present is releasing players , If you were a quality player wanting to play in the premiership would you go to a club that seems to have no investment & off loading some first team players or a club thats investing & looking to move forward, ..we are sending out the wrong signals .. come on DM pull another master stroke , come on lads lets turn west ham over & keep on a roll ,,

Thursday 20th January 11:58 Report Comment

Andy CloseGreat news. Come on Everton, try and muster one big signing that will give the team the lift and the push to go on a great run. I think the team has done great this in the main this season, just a few individual errors costing us some points, which is unlike this team to do these errors. Keep up the hard work, your in my heart, your in my sole x

Adam LaffoleyNow lets get legear in, he's meant to be a little whizz!

Thursday 20th January 10:33 Report Comment

Peter WilliamsIts good we keeping hold of our future, but as others, I am still a little concerned about our present. We need some people in, and not just guys for the future as we normally get, proven players

Thursday 20th January 09:47 Report Comment

Mark ReidIts a big HANDS OFF to any envious clubs looking at Coleman. As for Anichebe he's got loads of potential and ability due to his physique - but he needs to listen to Moyes more and show it.

DAVE HUNTERGreat news if Anichebe can keep fit he will be a great player in the Campbell/Yak mould. Coleman can only get better and better. A couple of new faces in the squad now would be great

BENJAMIN HIGGS60k for coleman and anichebe through the ranks, 2 young prospects for nothing, well done everton.

Thursday 20th January 09:19 Report Comment

neil brimageWe need a striker Bill.

Thursday 20th January 09:16 Report Comment

dale wilsonbrilliant news, now is the time for vixtor to fulfill his obvious potential and make sure he stays injury free. on a side not i hope we havent used the money from pienaar/yakuba deals to finance these contracts and that the cash is left to bring in a couple of new players. it is getting beyond a joke how we have to sell players just so we can finance new contracts!

Thursday 20th January 09:12 Report Comment

bj penngreat news all we need now is Jonathan Legear on loan!!!

Thursday 20th January 09:03 Report Comment

Ryan TaylorIt's good to see these lads sign new contracts, but we more importantly need to see the Breaking News banner saying we have signed a player even if it's on loan.

Thursday 20th January 09:02 Report Comment

Kevin JamesThis is excellent news. Two players who are clearly going to get better each year! Anichebe gets a lot of stick but his injury has prevented him from flourishing, just wait and see this lad is going to be quality.

Thursday 20th January 09:00 Report Comment

Toffee SgThis is absolutely fantastic news indeed! Moyes obviously fancies Anichebe but I think Coleman deserved the improved contract. Lets push on from here!

Thursday 20th January 09:00 Report Comment

Craig Webbdelighted for both players and club! VIc and Seamus are not only players for the current day squad but also for the future!....wonder what Mr Gosling will be doing in 4 years.....lower league i feel! With rumours of Vaughan going on loan to celtic it would be nice to see a striker come in now...i like the idea of a loan til end of season with view to buy if he fits in ...the way Moyes works :)
