Ossie Fit And Raring To Go

Midfielder feeling good after comeback at City

Ossie Fit And Raring To Go

Leon Osman is ready to play a full part in Everton’s hectic Christmas schedule after making his first start for more than two months.

Osman deputised for the injured Steven Pienaar on the left of midfield at Manchester City on Monday night and impressed as the Blues collected a superb 2-1 victory.

It was the midfielder’s first involvement since limping out of the 2-0 derby win over Liverpool on October 17 with an injured ankle.

David Moyes withdrew the 29-year-old after 75 minutes at Eastlands but Osman said he felt positive about his fitness.

And the Academy graduate is eager for more starts as the Blues embark upon a busy programme that sees them take on Birmingham City, West Ham United and Stoke City all in the space of a week.

Osman told evertontv: “It was great to be back in the first team and to come away with a result like that makes it all the sweeter.

“I was feeling good when I went off. It was a tough game – especially when we went down to 10 men – but I felt good and will be all the better for playing 75 minutes of football.”

The Blues showed plenty of character to repel wave after wave of Manchester City attacks – particularly after Victor Anichebe was sent off on the hour.

Osman said it was a great way to mark his return to action.

“It was tough out there,” he said. “It was a great start from us, we took control of the game and got our goals but you come to a top team and you are going to come under pressure – they were always going to get chances.

“We stood up to be counted, threw ourselves in the way of shots, worked hard and it was great to be a part of a real team performance."

Mikel ArreguiLee, he is that good! He's the most underrated player in our squad, before his injury he was playing great and on Monday despite being his first game for over 2 months he played very well and gave 100% as always.

Lee ThomasOssie, when i heard that name on the team sheet on monday, i jumped up and celebrated and so did every evertonian. we all no how much you contribute to the cause. even during a bad game, your contribution is massive. how u are not in england contention is stupid, you are a fantastic player and you never give up and never stop running. you even chip in with the odd goal aswell. we couldnt ask for more off of you oussie. we missed you during your injury, i feel we could have scraped afew wins from the draws we got this season wid you in the team. keep it up oussie m8. you are a fantastic player and are close to becoming an everton legend.

Paul HowellsOssie was playing great before his injury, in that derby he was fantatic and Mondays performance was such a big performance from him. He showed desire, determination and also some good touches and played good football. He got stuck in were it hurts and wasn't afraid or backing out of any challenges. Lee Taylor I think you need to take a look at how some of the other players have performed this season and if you'd rather have players who have got ability but never use it than those who may have a little less but put 100% in every time like Ossie does then I'm just glad you're not our manager. Put it this way, would you prefer a 10 rated player playing at 50% or an 8 rated player at 100%? I kow which I'd want.

Phil Bowkeralways loved ossie, he works so hard, he can even do the odd dribble with such ease past players and always makes things happen, great team player and winds me up with people saying he is no good. We need a striker though who can finish these chances that our midfield make, wouldnt mind seeing Robbie Keane here.

Mikel ArreguiAgreed with the last comments, Ossie's so important for our club! I believe a good club needs a balanced mix of talented creative and players (Arteta, Pienaar, Baines) with quality, committed and dying for the cause players like Ossie, Cahill or Nev. Hope Everton can play like this regularly from now on, but now it's time to enjoy yesterday's victory till Boxing Day :)

Real ToffeeSuch an underrated player in our team, we can talk about Pienaar and the Arteta all day long but Osman's commitment every time he plays is second to none. Sorely missed lately as our results have shown. Great to see Billy and Saha doing their jobs when they came on. Great to be back to winning ways, COYB'S!

Sammy OwenOssie wasn't at his best? He was immense! He was arguably the link that we have been missing over the past few weeks, a terrific team player returning to culminate in a terrific team performance, and he was even played on the left in the absence of Pienaar! Refreshing to have him back, he's a real heartbeat to this team. Welcome back Leon!
