Classic Derbies: Composed Cottee
In-fighting breaks out among the visitors as Everton win in '93 .
Two goals, a clean sheet and in-fighting in the Red camp – it was a good day for Blues supporters when Everton beat Liverpool 2-0 in September 1993.
Mark Ward fulfilled a lifelong dream in scoring for the Club in the Merseyside derby, while Tony Cottee’s good record against the Reds continued.
But one of the highlights of the day for Blues supporters was seeing Liverpool keeper Bruce Grobbelaar and winger Steve McManaman coming to blows as tempers flared among the visiting players.
Everton flirted with the drop that season before maintaining their Premier League status with an incredible 3-2 final day victory over Wimbledon.
