Classic Derbies: Sharp Shooter
Scotsman shocks Anfield with stunner
The derby of October 1984 will always be famous for a piece of magic and one of the great derby goals from Blues legend Graeme Sharp.
So good was the strike, it would later be voted the BBC's 'Goal of the Season'.
Indeed, it drew praise from the unlikeliest of sources with Liverpool boss Joe Fagan saying at the time, "It was a good goal, worth winning any game."
The goal ultimately proved the difference on the day as Everton ran out 1-0 victors – much to the delight of their modest matchwinner.
"The most important thing was the result," Sharpy told evertonfc.com. "Everybody talks about the goal but the most important thing was the win.
"It is always nice to score in derbies, but to have the winning goal and have it be a spectacular one was nice," he added.
"It's nice when you hear people talking about their favourite Everton moments and that goal is amongst them."
