Vaughan Wants Games

Striker aiming to prove a point at Palace.

Vaughan Wants Games
James Vaughan

James Vaughan says he wants to use his three-month loan spell at Crystal Palace as a platform to force his way into the team at Everton.

The 22-year-old moved to Selhurst Park this week and is set to make his debut at Reading on Saturday.

Vaughan has not featured in a matchday squad for the Blues this season after finding himself down the pecking order at Goodison Park.

“David Moyes told me to go out and get some games,” said Vaughan. “Hopefully I can come here and prove I am good enough for the team. I want to play as much as possible, score some goals and help Palace out.”

Vaughan also said he was keen to play alongside Dutch legend Edgar Davids, who has come out of retirement to join George Burley’s side.

He said: “Edgar Davids is a massive name and it will be great to play alongside him. It will be good to see how he works but there are plenty of good players around the squad.

“I played against Palace last year so I know there is a good team here and I can’t wait to get started.

“It is a good opportunity for me to test myself at a good level of football.

“I heard that Palace were interested a few days ago and I was desperate to get out and play some games. It was a no-brainer for me.

“Straight away I can see the quality all around the dressing room and I am pleased to be here. I am available to face Reading on Saturday so I am going to train the next two days and hopefully play some part.”

Mikel ArreguiGood luck Vaughan! Hope you hit the net many times and have a smashing injury-free loan at Palace to finally climb that step you need to to be a top striker.

Robbie DooganI know he has had terrible injuries, but when i hear james vaughn i get this over riding feeling of anti climax! hasnt progressed as a striker at all since he was a kid! now hes 22, (so is messi) he isnt the kid with potential he is the man who could have been! hope he gets a good run and lots of goals but i really don't think we will ever see him in a blue shirt again!

Kevin JamesIf this is the case why was it confirmed yesterday that palace can have him on a permanent at the end of the season!!! If we sell him that would be very stupid!!
