Flying Duo Hailed

Magaye Gueye and Seamus 'Ramos' earn special praise.

Everton's flying young guns have earned special praise following their impact in Wednesday night's Carling Cup win over Huddersfield.

Seamus Coleman and Magaye Gueye were hailed by Everton assistant boss Steve Round for their part in the emphatic 5-1 victory over the Terriers at Goodison.

And David Moyes' number two revealed the Irish Under-21 international has caught the eye so much with his attacking style that he has earned a new nickname.

Round told "Seamus Coleman going forward was sensational. The lads have nicknamed him Seamus Ramos because he bombs forward so much.

"It was a pleasing night, for sure, to get a good win, to go through in the cup and to see some very good performances from our younger players."

Both Coleman and French youngster Gueye teed up goals for the Blues as they strolled to the third round - with Marouane Fellaini, Jack Rodwell, Jermaine Beckford, Louis Saha and Leon Osman all on target.

Gueye's footwork on the left ensured he received rich applause when he was subbed midway through the second period. Round is keen to stress, though, that he is one for the future.

He added: "He is a player that we think has got some good potential. He's got a lovely left foot and is very skillful, very attack-minded. It's very early for him yet so I think you'll see him come to the fore over the course of the season and into next season really."

One young player who is likely to have a more immediate impact is England Under-21 lynchpin Jack Rodwell. Round conceded it will be difficult to leave the midfielder out of the side when the Blues take on Aston Villa on Sunday.

"For sure. We know the quality he has got and he's a player we have high hopes for. There will be one or two now looking over their shoulders and saying there's a young player here who really wants to play and come on for Everton," explained Round.

Wai Kin Lowi think gueye partnership with coleman can be something that we have with pienaar and baines. maybe can play gueye on the right and since he is left footed, it is easier for him to shoot at a right wing. but moyes know what he is doing. and i still got a feeling we will have a new player before the end of transfer window. Glen WilliamsCome on Moyesy now, We've trusted you for 8 years now, and your still playing Hibbo? Don't get me wrong, you cant hate Hibbo hes they type of guy who'd play for us for nothing, But how many Bad games has seamus given us? NONE, and Osman captain? why not Arteta, as much as a top player Ossie is he's not a captain; and you could see that when he let Johnny take that penalty Come on Moyes give the fans what they want! Grant JansenOften teams are judged by the long term vision and potential of a club. In young Coleman, Rodwell, Gueye, Anichebe et al ... the future is most certainly very bright. As a club we now need to focus only on the controllables and the rest; investors, results, etc will sort itself out. COYB!!!! All the way from South Africa!

John HauSo, many of you keep saying Coleman is not ready, his defensive skill need more polish, so does Hibbert & Neville, there is no limit to possible improvement, if we never play him in matches against team like Villa, you guys would keep saying what you are saying, let him prove his worth in couple of start against establish team throughout the season, and let's start with Villa this weekend, certainly want to see Rodwell & Coleman starts against Villa and a second half appearance for Gueye would be nice!

Pete GillMoyes has created one of the best Everton team/squad that weve had for a long time and it's about time there rewarded with some silverware. To acheive the things we do with the funds available just proves that Moyes is the best manager in the league. The young players he has coming through are all international quality, Jack Rodwell is immense, both footed a proper footballing brain, strong, confident and most of all he plays for the shirt which you don't get very often anymore.True Everton legend in the making! COYB lets show everyone we mean business this season and every season from now on.

jack seeryAlexandar - Heitinga just wanted to score his 1st goal for the club ! we were in a comfortable position for him to do so - and obviously wasnt pushing himself into the spotlight as he already has the respect from the fans !

Aleksandar JovanovicI don't like Heitinga stealing the ball from Beckford for penalty. He plays good but I feel a couple of players(Heitinga, Saha) are trying to push themselves into spotlight instead choosing best for the team.

Nick ClarkLets not get carried away...he still needs to work on the defensive side of his game. He made one mistake that almost led to a goal for them and was also at fault for the goal. Playing him against Villa would not be a smart cant be bombing forward when you have Ashley Young catching you on the break. He's perfect for bringing on if we need a goal though.

Audi HarizGueye and Coleman could come on as super subs on both wings! IMWT to do the right thing...

Thursday 26th August 01:47 Report Comment

Paul HowellsI thought Coleman was possibly man of the match, him or Fellaini for me. Gueye was excellent. Always wanted the ball, comfortable in possesion and getting stuck in when we didnt have the ball. Mustard showed some great footwork getting forward. I think as Round says these two will be great for the fututre but I see no reason why they cant both get plenty of game time a lot sooner. Especially in cup competitions like tonight,

Mark JonesWell done lads - a great performance and result, just what we needed after another slow start to the season. Let's take this into the weekend and give Villa a good hiding whilst they're vulnerable. And I say throw Coleman and Rodwell in there again, they'll not let us down.
