Moyes Dismisses Yobo Link
Boss dismisses speculation linking Joseph Yobo with Celtic.
Joseph Yobo
David Moyes has dismissed speculation linking Joseph Yobo with a move to Celtic.
Media reports had suggested the 29-year-old Nigerian international was a target for Neil Lennon's Bhoys on a season-long loan deal.
But the Goodison chief, who has a good relationship with the hierarchy at Parkhead, has revealed there has been no contact from the Scottish outfit.
"There has been no contact from Celtic to me and if there is anything out there I have not heard it," Moyes told the press ahead of Saturday’s home clash with Wolves.
Yobo has been at Goodison since 2002, when he arrived from Marseilles on an initial season-long loan before becoming a permanent fixture with the Blues.
Yobo has found regular first-team football difficult to attain in 2010 because of increased competition for the central defensive berths but he still made 23 appearances during the 2009/10 campaign. His current Everton contract runs out in 2014.

Shaun ParkAndy, i hear you bro, we are a negative lot. Our first choice starting 11 is impressive, with a strong bench and weve got the luxury at the moment of discussing if Yobo should stay!! Goodison will be rocking today for our first home game cant wait to hear the z cars and Vic will get the winner from Right Mid!! 'Do do do Victor Anichebe!!!'

Toffee SgYobo still a good option to have on the bench, he has been a loyal servant and has always given his best whenever being called upon. He deserves another shot at it.

Chris BannantyneYobo has looked a bit shaky lately, but when he is on his game he is one of the best. With the competition for places I think his game will improve a lot this season - hopefully everyones does. Let Yobo stay, he's worth it I feel.
Saturday 21st August 03:06 Report CommentCason TangYobo has been a good character to us all these years and he is a good mentor to young defender. I hope Moyes gives chance to Mustafi and Duffy before he brings in any new signings. These two products are as good as any new signings. They need games and experience to be regular Premier League players. We don't need expensive bench players but good ones like Duffy and Mustafi. If we can afford to pay Yobo's wages, I hope he stays to mentor the young ones. If we cannot afford and need to free up money to pay Pienaar or Arteta, then I wish Yobo all the best and I hope he would return to us as coach in future.

Gwyn RowlandsIm probably going to get some criticism for saying this but i do not rate Yobo he may have been good when he first arrived but in recent seasons he has been a liability bottling it in big games, and also last season when Yobo was starting we were going through a bad patch when he got injured we started playing better and went on an unbeaten run....coincidence? I would Let Yobo leave if the price was right

Andy PearceAre there any others out there who are feeling really uncomfortable with the singling out and slagging off of certain players when the season has barely begun?
Friday 20th August 23:02 Report Commentthomas mcmahonYobo still has many good seasons left in him, keep him!
Friday 20th August 22:58 Report CommentNeil SteeleBy some of these replies...you can't half tell we have been starved for success for too long!! Seriously, how many players can we afford to pay money for old rope for?? We are skint!! "Thanks Joseph, thanks Tim...keep throwing in bottom half performances ever week, you used to be good, cheers" pffft. I actually want to WIN something.

Shaun ParkFirstly hope Yobo stays think he's quality cover and been a good servent for the club. Although maybe wi Jags, DIstin, Heitinga and Captain Courageous I wouldnt be too unhappy with his sale. Not loan. And as for right mid, I was really impressed wi Anichebe when he played there a few times at end of last season. Do do do Victor Anichebe!!!!!

Dave O'NeillThe only reason everyone's crying out for Landon is because we have no one to play on the right. No one who's any good there anyway

Sen-C Conquerorif i remember rightly, Yobo was Moyses first signing. he's been a good servant. his time may be coming to an end but i agree that he is good cover if & when needed. thank you Joseph.

Neil SteeleLoan is no good but we should sell for what we can get. Defending is all about reliability, and reliable is the one thing that Joey ain't!! Couple that with his lack of composure and awful distribution...he should have been moved on a long time ago. Karl...Yobo at RB, that made me smile. Truly awful suggestion.

Paul ShipsidesWith all due respect Darren, with our apalling injury record,do you think it's wise to let our most experiened CB go for nawt?I admit that his form has been a bit dodgy but think he is a valuable member of our squad and is perfect back-up.

Patrick MooreIt`s a bit premature to start selling players just yet. We have cover almost everywhere and youngsters coming through, but the squad is stronger and deeper NOW. Remember the last couple of seasons where we were forced to draft from the Farm to fill the bench. If Shane Duffy lives up to his potential this season we could consider letting JoBo go next season, but I think we should keep the group together for the time being. Strength in numbers and all that. Looking forward to Wolves. Be the twelfth...
