Everton Take Off For Oz
The Blues stars leave for their pre-season tour of Australia.
Everton’s players have taken off and are currently on their way to Australia for the pre-season tour.
The Blues trained at Finch Farm this morning following their summer break before boarding the plane Down Under.
Their journey from the UK will take just under 24 hours and they will then meet up with Tim Cahill who is already back in his home country waiting for his teammates to arrive.
The Aussie superstar is likely to appear in the opening two matches of the tour following his World Cup campaign with the Socceroos in South Africa.
After a week of training, Everton will first face a tough encounter with Hyundai A-League champions Sydney FC on Saturday 10 July.
Dwight Yorke will line up against Everton after his former team invited him to play for them in the exhibition match.
The former Aston Villa and Manchester United striker was part of the Sydney FC team that won the inaugural A-League title in 2005 and the forward will face old team-mate Phil Neville.
David Moyes' men will then play Melbourne Heart on Wednesday 14 July before closing their tour of Australia by taking on Brisbane Roar on Saturday 17 July.
Throughout the pre-season tour evertonfc.com will bring you exclusive behind-the-scenes coverage, including interviews with your favourite players, image galleries, podcasts and blogs.
