Jags Excited About Oz
Defender looking forward to his first trip Down Under.
Phil Jagielka
Phil Jagielka is looking forward to fitting in some sight-seeing as well as football on his first trip to Australia.
The defender will be a star attraction during the tour Down Under after missing last summer's trip to the USA due to his long-term knee injury.
And the Blues favourite can't wait to sample Aussie life over the next three weeks.
"I am looking forward to it," Jags told evertontv. "Obviously the travelling will seem very long but I have never been to Australia before."
The 27-year-old featured in the Blues' pre-season tour of America in 2008 as David Moyes' men faced Chicago Fire and Colorado Rapids.
Jags is now looking forward to taking on A-League competition in the form of Sydney FC, Melbourne Heart and Brisbane Roar.
"We have been to America quite a few times and that was top notch, so why not go a couple hours more to Australia!
"I get told by Tim Cahill all the time that the facilities are amazing and the country is amazing so it will be nice to go over there and sample it."
The squad arrive in Australia on Friday after the long flight from the UK.
It will be the first time the Blues players have seen each other since the final game of the season against Portsmouth in May.
Jags insists though that the journey will be about relaxing ahead of the new season.
"I think the flight will be more sleeping instead of chatting! I think we will be spoilt, so we are looking forward to it."

Monday 28th June 23:41 Report CommentPaul Ellamgreat to see jagielka back in the heart of the team and enjoying his football. what a pity england chose to overlook him as im sure he would have put on a better show than the defenders we ended up with!! why he took players like carragher and warnock before jagielka and baines still baffles me! it shouldnt be long til they are in the england squad - along with rodwell :-)
