Blues Sign Beckford
Everton sign striker Beckford on four-year deal.
Jermaine Beckford
Everton have signed prolific striker Jermaine Beckford.
The 26-year old frontman has penned a four-year deal at Goodison Park after being released from his contract with Leeds United last week.
Scorer of 31 goals last season, Beckford had been linked with several top-flight sides but Everton moved quickly to secure his signature.
He passed a medical at Finch Farm and will join his new team-mates when they reconvene after the summer break.

The London-born centre-forward was a massive success during his three-year stay at Elland Road - scoring 31 goals last season to help fire the club to promotion, including the winning strike in the crucial last game against Bristol Rovers and, of course, he knocked Manchester United out of the FA Cup at Old Trafford.
He was subsequently named as the League One Player of the Year, an accolade he also collected in 2008.
Beckford began his career as a youngster at Chelsea but failed to break into the first team and after being released from Stamford Bridge he drifted into non-league football with Wealdstone.
His sensational form soon attracted Football League scouts and he joined Leeds United in March 2006, where, after loan spells at Carlisle and Scunthorpe, he established himself as a goalscorer of genuine quality.

David Kellyi agree get off hte lads back ive had my doubts but we have a quality starting line up anyway we need quality rotationl players ive critisized him in past but hes here now and if he bags 10/15 goals thats what we want other players who can pitch in and give us a lift from time to time but hes not the youngest being 26, and no one else was interested in him because it was common knowlage we made a deal with them in january why do u think he had his contract terminated, i hope we get petrov and joe ledley on a free now

Barry ThomasBeckford is one good striker. He's a good goalscorer. Hopefully he'll score in every single game, and we'll win the league. Beckford rules! :)
Tuesday 1st June 19:16 Report CommentJames DwyerThere's a good video of him on youtube of some of his goals he's banged in for Leeds. He looks like a complete centre forward, good in the air, gets on the end of crosses front and back post, good finisher, good with his back to goal and on the turn, eager to score, seems to have a good football brain, he looks tall and athletic, another bit of shrewd business by David Moyes. Welcome to Everton Jermaine.

Tuesday 1st June 08:59 Report CommentLawrence SharpFantastic news. Welcome Jermaine, and all the best of luck. A proven performer at League One level... may take a while to settle in at Premiership level, but I'm sure he'll adjust and bag a good bunch of goals. Most important factors : (1) Free transfer ! (2) A bunch of other clubs were also interested, but we got in really early... hopefully a precursor to a round of signings concluded much more timeously than in the past couple of seasons... exciting times ahead ? Stan DalzielWelcome to the peoples club lets hope you can return the managers faith with bags of goals. Centre forwards @ this club are reverred & always have been. I'm old enough to have seen the golden vision & many others pass through this club & forwards who would sweat blood rather than see defeat. Goals & commitment is what it will take to win our love, our support is unconditional while you wear the blue shirt. Good luck I look forward to seeing you next season COYB

Thomas McCarteni think this is another good moyes signing he hasnt cost us nothing, and he looks like a young pacey striker who knows where the net is, yes it is a big step up, but a risk i think worth takeing maybe with a pre- season, and a few starts in the reserves, i think we then should start him in a away game to find his feet in the prem, its great to see moyes not waiting untill the season has started, to bring players in, if we can get the pinnear thing sorted, & try to bring back donovan, with the adition of maybe 2 more players, & the squad stays injury free things are looking good, i would be willing to listen to offers on yobo, & maybe saha just because of his age, & injuries ? coyb

Royson Reja SagahJB came on a free so i'd say this is a pretty low-risk transfer. Heres to hoping he bags as many goals for us as he has for Leeds in the past. Good to have you on board, son!
Monday 31st May 16:29 Report CommentJason GilbertEven on a free transfer this guy is a waste of money. Have not seen him play a good game at all since he was at Leeds & they are not a very good side anyway being 2divs lower than the Prem. Not a good signing at all for the blues & if this is Everton competing with the big boys for a CL spot then maybe it's time Moyes moved on to another challenge as this isn't a CL standard signing & not an Everton quality player.
Monday 31st May 16:22 Report CommentStephen McNallyLets hope David Moyes has unearthed another lower league gem. We all know how Joleon Lescott performed, in the blue shirt of Everton, after his move from Championship club Wolverhampton Wanderers. Good luck Jermaine, heres to another 31 goals this season.

Monday 31st May 14:59 Report CommentPeter WilliamsWelcome to the family. I think this is a good signing. Ok he's not a massive name scoring 20 a season in the Premier league or Italy or Spain but we don't have the £20+ million those players cost. He maybe a bit of a gamble, but many said the same about Cahill, Arteta, Jags, Peanut & he who should not be named all they were some of our best buys

darren allenWelcome Beckie...About time. One thing I'm concerned about is our formation. Does this mean we are going for the 442 or 433 formation? Personally, I would like to like to see Donovan come back, especially if Peanuts leaves.

Malcolm BubbIs he the Rob Earnshaw that Moyes missed out on? About time we had a fox in the box, again. Not sure Beckford is a 4-5-1 man though, what's the plan? For him to come on when we are chasing the game and make it 4-4-2? What does this mean for Vaughan? Isn't Beckford is what we hoped Vaughan would become?
Monday 31st May 12:26 Report CommentHayden JillionsWelcome to Everton Beckford! Lets keep them scoring boots on for next season!! COYB!
Monday 31st May 12:25 Report CommentDavid AdlingtonDespite all the naysayers I think this is a excellent pice of business. Look at the examples of jagjelka or lescott if you need proof of David moyes expertise in this area of development. We do not have the funds to buy the finished product, we need to buy "works in progress" COYB IMWT

Glen WilliamsTo be honest with you, this is an awesome signing from Moyes, he was awesome in League 1, and with coaching from Everton he can only get better. All you doubters you won't be doubting when he scores 15-20 goals a season. Well done Beckford, I doubt you'll read this, but I hope you become an Everton Legend, you sure do have the talent
