Latino fever will grip Goodison Park this summer after the Blues’ announced it will face Everton Chile as part of the preparations for the 2010/11 Premier League season.
It will be the first fixture between the two sides and will take place on Wednesday 4 August, kick off 8pm. The game will be a celebration of the Club’s long standing relationship with the Chilean Primera Division side.
Everton Chile were formed in June 1909 by Anglo-Chilean teenagers in the port of Valparaiso following the completion a successful tour of Argentina and Uruguay by Everton Football Club.
Everton Chief Executive Robert Elstone said: "Since I have been at Everton I have grown to understand how much the Ruleteros Society - and our relationship with Everton Chile - means to Everton fans.
"I have had the opportunity to meet many members of the Ruleteros Society and Club President, Antonio Bloise and there is a real sense of Everton Chile being a part of the worldwide Everton family. It is a pleasure to be able to welcome them to Goodison for what will be a historic game of football.
"We should feel enormously proud that after we gave our name to a club, on another continent, over a century ago, that 100 years on, we are hosting them at our famous Goodison Park home.”
Everton Chile President President Antonio Bloise added: “Confirmation of our forthcoming match against Everton is a spectacular development not only for ourselves but for all of Chilean football.
“This means a return home for our club after 100 years and marks the celebration of Chile’s bicentenary as a nation, and so could not have come at a more opportune moment.
“We are sincerely grateful for Everton’s invitation and as is usual on these occasions we are not going to Goodison Park merely to make up the numbers but to represent Chilean football as a whole.”
The fixture will take place after David Moyes and his team return from their three-week pre-season tour of Australia and an away game at Norwich City on July 31, 2010. Ticket information will be announced shortly.

Mikel ArreguiNice one! I hope I'd be up there that day to watch it, should be a fantastic atmosphere! I found it flattering when one mate who'd lived in Chile told me the story of this club as he knew I was a toffee, I've held them in great respect ever since!

Graham WilliamsHaving visited Everton in Vina del Mar, and been royally received both at the match and in their social club, I hope we'll now be able to return the hospitality. I lost my (club) shirt that night, in return for one that didn't fit my figure so well. Maybe I can get it back!

Michal SzymanowskiIt was about time to arrange such tie. Bring it on. In all honestly, it was the biggest faux pas of all when last summer club refused Everton de Chile approach and instead we played "mighty" Malaga FC. Next year EvertonFC should travel to Chile. I think it should be a game played each year during pre-season. One year at home, next year away. We need to takeover Chile, just like Chang-Everton partnership painted Thailand Blue. ;)
