Tim Cahill has underlined his eagerness to extend his Everton contract, insisting 'I would sign here for life'.

The Aussie international is at an advanced stage of negotiations over a new four year contract which will keep him at Goodison until 2014.

The 30-year-old has been a huge hit for the Blues since his switch from Millwall in 2004, scoring 56 goals from 201 games.

And it is a love-affair he admits he does not want to end.

He told evertontv: "The chairman and the gaffer know what I think of the Club and so do the players. It is amazing!

"The chairman knows my thoughts, I will sign here for life.  He knows my thoughts on what I love about this Club.  I respect everyone so much and hopefully I am here for a long time."

Cahill's impressive haul of 56 goals makes him the highest career-scorer for Everton amongst the current squad and 40th in the Club's all-time list.

The Aussie's passion for the Blues has been forged on the pitch, in his relationship with the fans and the camaraderie in the dressing room.

He adds: "The likes of Tony Hibbert and Leon Osman have helped me all the way during my time at Everton. Also people like Phil Neville, he is someone I have massive respect for.  I love this Club, I have been here for six years and I have grown fonder every year. It is a dream come true and still to this day I enjoy going to training and I enjoy playing with these guys. We are very privileged and it is a massive honour."

andrew gilliganthis is what makes me so proud to be blue. Tim, what you say goes a very long way in every Evertonian's mind as to what you mean to this club. Your loyalty is admired and is an example to all. Hopefully Peanuts can follow in your footsteps and have the same feelings and thoughts for this wonderful club that you have. Rodwell is another we need to keep long-term, you're all important and we must keep this time together for the future, as things look very bright and we can only build on this season by aiming for a top 5 finish next season. Thank you.

Tony KibbleDon't get carried away, as much as the comments are great to read, he hasn't signed yet. Note the use of the word 'would' in the phrase 'Would sign for life'. Not have, or will but would. Still means that htere is some negotiation going on and it isn't cut and dried yet.

Jon SummerTim I love you mate, and that is one of the best things I have heard from an Everton player in a very long time and I've been watching the Blues since 1965. If all the players respected and shown loyalty to the clubs that pay their wages, weather they are local lads or from other parts of the world, the Clubs would be happier and in a better state than what some of them are in today. Once a Blue always a Blue!!!!!!

darrell townsendMy favorite Everton player, Why? because he is one of us! a humble guy who wears his heart on his sleeve and always gives 110%. He never moans or argues, just gets on with the business and scores lots of goals. What more can you ask? Any new additions to the squad should learn from Tim and realise that hard work and determination is as good as all the skill in the world. Forever Blue.

And it's great to hear he is being loyal to Everton club as I am sure he has been offered to go somewhere else for more money. Good to see a footballer choosing loyalty over money. If he reads this, good luck in the World Cup Timmy. Hope you score lots of goals !!!
