Everton remain hopeful Steven Pienaar will return for the final game of the 2009/10 campaign.
The midfielder missed Saturday's 0-0 draw with Stoke City with a minor injury problem after turning his ankle in training at Finch Farm last week.
Blues boss David Moyes left it as late as possible to rule pienaar out but a failed fitness test prior to the Blues' departure for the Britannia Stadium meant he was unable to take part.
Portsmouth visit Goodison Park on Sunday 9 May and Pienaar will want to be involved to gain as much playing time as possible in preparation for the 2010 World Cup finals, which start in his homeland next month.
