Donovan's Player Of The Season Vote
The American reveals who gets his vote for 09/10 Everton Awards.
Landon Donovan has cast his vote for the 2009/10 Everton Players’ Player of the Year.
The American international, who enjoyed a great spell at Goodison earlier this season, may be back in Los Angeles but he is still keeping an eye on the fortunes of his former colleagues.
He has spoken exclusively to evertonfc.com from his home in California and he revealed that the player getting his vote is someone he hopes to be playing against in the World Cup during the summer!
“Bainesy gets my vote because he’s been so consistent,” said Donovan.
“You don’t get into England squads if you’re not a class player and Bainesy has proved himself to be one of the best left-backs in the Premier League. I thoroughly enjoyed playing alongside him…and hope to play against him when the US meet England in South Africa.”
Donovan added that he would have loved to have been at the glittering End of Season Awards Evening next month but his LA Galaxy team has an MLS fixture the following night away to Colorado Rapids!
“I keep in touch with the guys and I know they’re looking forward to the Awards Night,” he said. “I’ll be thinking about everyone on 4th May and I’ll be wishing I was over there celebrating with them all. Let’s just hope the guys can win the last three matches and maybe sneak into a European qualification position.”
LA Galaxy are currently top of the Western Conference with four wins from their opening four games. Donovan is yet to get off the mark on the goals front but he is leading the way in the assist table, having laid on four goals so far.
