Phil Jagielka believes Gianfranco Zola is the man to guide West Ham away from relegation.
But the Everton man hopes his side can pile more misery on the Italian this weekend.
Following Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Stoke, Hammers boss Zola revealed he was considering his future.
This week the former Chelsea striker announced he would remain in charge and insisted he was focused on getting a result at Everton.
"I think Zola is a good manager but it's been hard with what's gone on upstairs at West Ham," Jagielka told evertontv.
"If he can get this season out the way and finish as strong as possible then he will be looking to kick on next season," he continued. "He can use the experience he's got as a player to make him into a great manager."

Jagielka revealed his shock that West Ham are locked in a relegation battle but believes it is the result of off-the-field headlines.
After guiding the Hammers up to ninth last season, Gianfranco Zola's side currently lie just above the drop zone but only on goal difference.
"I have been surprised that West Ham have been in a relegation fight this season," Jagielka continued.
"I think there has been a lot of talk off the pitch about them having to sell their best players and reports that the club wasn't financially stable. Those off the field activities haven't really helped them."
Going into Sunday's clash at Goodison, the East London club have managed to win just two of their last 13 Premier League outings.
West Ham have also only won once on the road this season, the victory coming on the opening day of the season against Wolves.
But while the Blues go into the game as clear favourites, Jags insists they can't be complacent.
"The squad they have got is still good and they have some great players but I think the main word for their season is consistency," he said.
"They haven't put four or five good results together that would see them climb up the table."
