Victor Anichebe has spoken of his relief to score his first goal of the season following an 11-month injury lay off.
It's just over a year since the 21-year-old was suffered a serious knee problem during the Premier League match at Newcastle, the same game that also saw Mikel Arteta damage his knee ligament.
"It feels really good to get that goal because I was out for so long," Anichebe told evertonTV. "I forgot what it felt like to score!
"We have been practising that in training so it was good to bring something from the training ground onto the pitch. It just shows that if you work hard in training then it pays off."
The young striker opened the scoring against Birmingham before Yakubu doubled the Blues lead.
Anichebe admits the team were frustrated to let their lead slip and leave St. Andrew's with a point.
"We are disappointed because at 2-0 up we thought we were cruising but then they got a fortunate goal so that spurred the crowd on and it spurred them on to push forward.
"We got a point though and St. Andrew's is a very hard place to come to," Anichebe continued. "We need to put this behind us and look forward to the next game against Bolton."
The result puts Everton in ninth place in the table with nine games left to go before the end of the season.
Anichebe says all the players are sure the Blues can still qualify for Europe next season.
"We have still got belief that we can finish high in the table. We have got a good run from now until the end of the season.
"All the games are going to be tough because even if we do play a team near the bottom of the table they are going to be fighting to stay up."

alexis leungI am not pouring cold water, but Vic needs to improve a lot to be a first team player in the Premier League. At present he is at best a 15 minute player. At St Andrew's we have been very very lucky to get two first because all the boys seemed to be knee-shaking right from the beginning and unsettled throughout. We gave up in the last 30 minutes playing no strikers. Strange.

Sunday 14th March 23:26 Report CommentRyan ScailsThat's all well and good Big Vic, as I'm a big fan of yours, I also admit being somewhat critical of all the blue's individual performances. That being said there was a point in the match on Sat that we began to really lose shape, mentally and physically. One particular moment, you were dispossessed in our own half and then proceeded to raise your arms in as the assailant went in on goal. Your goal was fantastic though, and the build up to it was even better, I believe your first touch has improved. Pretty great hold up play all around. Makes the future, (i.e. next season) even brighter. As a fan it bothers me to see small bits of dissent, whining and miscommunication tarnish a performance. Cahill and Peanuts getting into it when he came off; publicly! Come on that's for the dressing room. You not tracking back on the ball you lost seems a bit lazy. Things like that have to be neutralized before we're to really push on for the run in.
Sunday 14th March 19:03 Report CommentMinik HansenI'm glad he mentioned that they got a point out of it, that's an important thing! The blues can rewind and see the situation of the game. I hope they learned something from it and through it get mental quality for the next and the rest of the games! I'm enjoying the time now for Everton!
