David Moyes believes that he will make additions to his squad before the ever-looming transfer deadline passes.
The Goodison Chief and Chairman Bill Kenwright are working hard to track down players who will improve the quality of the Blues' first-team squad.
As yet, Moyes has only made three forays into the market for Marcus Bent, Tim Cahill and Eddy Bosnar but wants more.
The Glaswegian is confident that players will arrive before the cut-off point on Tuesday, August 31 as he is eager to increase competition for places.
"I am optimistic we will get some new faces in before the deadline - we need more than one," he said.
"We are certainly making plenty of attempts at the moment as we definitely need more competition for places - at the moment I cannot make many changes from game to game.
"We are working hard to find the players and it is good to see that there is light at the end of the tunnel."
