YOUNG LOOK TO RESERVES

YOUNG LOOK TO RESERVES

Wednesday 24 March 2004, 11:47

Andy Holden has named an extremely young squad to face Middlesbrough Reserves at Southport's Haig Avenue ground this evening (kick-off 7.00 p.m.)

Apart from England international Richard Wright, who will start his third reserve game since returning from injury, Holden's entire 16-man squad is made up of current Academy players.

Fresh from their Under-17 success on Monday evening, Stephen Wynne, Mark Hughes and Laurence Wilson are expected to be involved from the kick-off, while midfielder Christian Seargeant could be handed his first start for the second string.

Meanwhile, Brian Moogan, Robert Booth and Gavin Lynch will be hoping to impress watching scouts after they were told that their contracts with the club would not be renewed at the end of the season.

Lynch will partner Patrizio Pascucci up front for tonight's game, as the reserves look to record their first win in five matches and a double over the Teessiders, who are expected to field a similarly young side at Southport.

Squad from: Richard Wright, Wynne, Fox, Hughes, Gerrard, Brian Moogan, Seargeant, Booth, Lynch, Pascucci, Wilson, Harris, Lake, Hopkins, Potter, Sean Wright.
