David Moyes has called for clubs to be given more freedom to carry out drink and drugs tests on players.
Speaking exclusively in Blue, Everton's match-day programme, Moyes revealed that he thought that players should be forced to agree to random testing by their clubs.
Under current rules agreed between the FA and the PFA, an independent assessor can only carry out testing, much to Moyes' frustration.
The Goodison Chief was commenting in the wake of the recent controversy over Rio Ferdinand, who missed a drugs test and could face FA charges.
"I find it incredible that it isn't now part of every player's contract that they must - at any time - receive a drug test or a breathalyser test from their club," said Moyes.
"You can't jump to conclusions, and I am certainly not suggesting anyone is guilty of anything.
"But on the issue of testing, it would help the clubs and help the players - everyone knows the damage that alcohol and drugs can do to your body."
