The Deloitte’s Review of Football Finances shows what a fabulous job David Moyes is doing.

The Everton boss led his side to fifth place last season with a total wage bill of £38 million.

Liverpool’s was double that and Chelsea’s almost £100m greater.

But it’s when you compare Everton to a team like West Ham, who spent £6m more on wages yet finished ten places beneath them that Moyes’ work is put in perspective.

Proof that now, more than ever, shrewd manager, and not over-hyped players are key to success. And Moyes is a shining example.

 

Tim Howard has warned David Moyes he has to splash the cash if he wants to stop Everton being swamped by the pack.

Last season Moyes’ men stunned their critics with a fifth placed finish to seal a Uefa Cup slot.

 

Everton are heading back to the USA this summer.

David Moyes’ side will face two Major League Soccer opponents in the shape of Chicago Fire on Wednesday July 30 and Colorado Rapids on Sunday August 3.
