Monaco And Werder Bremen Among Pre-Season Opposition

Everton will play matches against top-flight European opposition AS Monaco and SV Werder Bremen as preparation for the new 2019-20 Premier League season.

The Blues have today confirmed four more fixtures as part of the first-team’s pre-season schedule, which also includes games against Swiss top division team FC Sion and Wigan Athletic.

Everton begin pre-season with the ground-breaking trip to Kenya, where they will face Kariobangi Sharks in the SportPesa Trophy in Nairobi’s Kasarani Stadium on Sunday 7 July (4pm kick-off local time/2pm UK time).

After returning from East Africa, Marco Silva will then take his squad to Switzerland for a training camp which includes two matches, against FC Sion and AS Monaco, both taking place in Bagnes.

The Blues play Swiss Super League side FC Sion on Sunday 14 July (kick-off time TBC), followed by a meeting with French Ligue 1 club AS Monaco on Friday 19 July (kick-off time TBC).

Everton will return home to face Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium on Wednesday 24 July (7.45pm kick-off).

Marco Silva’s side will also compete in a European tournament over the weekend of 27-28 July, with further details to be confirmed later this week. 

Everton will travel to Germany a week before the start of the Premier League season for a friendly against Werder Bremen, which is being played at the Weserstadion on Saturday 3 August (3pm kick-off local time/2pm UK time).

Werder Bremen finished eighth in the Bundesliga last season and have former Blues midfielder Davy Klaassen amongst their ranks.
