Everton Ladies defender Georgia Brougham believes a positive result against Birmingham City on Wednesday night (7pm) can be the catalyst for a strong finish to the season.
Following the clash with the fourth-placed Midlands outfit at Southport FC’s Merseyrail Community Stadium, the Blue Girls face a trip to WSL pacesetters Arsenal on Sunday.
The Toffees host Reading seven days later before rounding off their season with a Merseyside derby showdown at Liverpool.
Everton were edged 1-0 by Yeovil last time out and Brougham stressed the team’s resolve to hit back in the best manner possible.
A victory over Birmingham would see the Blue Girls close the gap on ninth-placed Brighton & Hove Albion to a solitary point.
“It’s a massively important match,” Brougham told evertonfc.com. “We were very disappointed with the result against Yeovil and now we have to regroup.
"We can’t let our heads go down and we want to pick up as many points as we can and finish the league campaign as well as possible.”
Centre-back Brougham turned 23 last month and believes she is primed to take her game to the next level.
In Everton boss Willie Kirk, the defender believes she has the ideal manager to help her develop all aspects of her game, highlighting his meticulous work on the training pitch.
Kirk joined the Club in December and Brougham says he has firmly stamped his authority at USM Finch Farm. She is convinced Everton are heading in the right direction under the Scot’s guidance.
“As a player, you want to be challenged and Willie is definitely pushing me every day to get the best out of me,” she added. “Hopefully, moving forward, I can become a better player for that.
“Training is excellent. We split the week up in preparation for games. Half the week is on what we’re going to do against the opposition, and really nailing down the defensive shape.
“Then, we move onto possession, our patterns of play going forward and how we can hurt our opponents in an attacking sense. We're working hard and we know we’re capable of competing against any team.”
