Marcel Brands salutes the important work undertaken by Everton in the Community (EitC) in Thursday’s Liverpool Echo
The Blues’ Director of Football was speaking at the charity’s glittering Gala Dinner on Tuesday night, which raised tens of thousands for The People Place – EitC’s pioneering mental health campaign.
The People’s Place is a proposed permanent mental health facility close to Goodison Park for EitC to deliver a breadth of programmes to people across Merseyside.
Brands said: "We still have much work to do on the pitch, but the work we do off it with Everton in the Community is already Champions League.”
The Echo also analyses the impact made by Lucas Digne since arriving at Goodison Park from Barcelona last summer.
The paper highlights the left-back’s value as an attacking force. Digne has made four Premier League assists this term and has attempted more crosses than any other player in the top flight.
The local read reports Idrissa Gana Gueye could be a potential transfer target for Lyon, while speculating the Blues may be eyeing a move for the Ligue 1 side’s 22-year-old midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.
Ndombele has won four senior international caps for France.
