What The Papers Say – March 6

Jordan Pickford's explanation of the thought process which underpinned his one-v-one save from Mohamed Salah in Sunday's Merseyside derby features in Wednesday's Liverpool Echo.

Goalkeeper Pickford told evertontv he was determined not to let the Liverpool forward get the better of him and vowed, "You are not going to score past me".

Mason Holgate's future is discussed in a number of publications. The Everton defender is impressing on loan at West Bromwich Albion and it is suggested the Baggies would move to sign Holgate permanently if they are promoted from the Championship this term.

Midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye has spoken to Canal+ and plenty of newspapers pick up on Gana telling the French television channel he "owes everything" to Everton.

Everton Under-23 boss David Unsworth tells the Echo he rates forward Nathan Broadhead – who scored both goals in the Blues' 2-0 mini-derby success at Anfield on Monday – as "one of the best players I have worked with at this level".

Lucas Digne is quoted in the Echo, the Everton left-back providing insight into manager Marco Silva's "tough" training sessions.

And the same paper carries news of Everton's 18-year-old defender Kyle John, who joined the Club aged six, signing his first professional contract at Goodison Park.
