What The Papers Say – March 4

Monday's newspapers are packed with reaction to yesterday's drawn 233rd Merseyside derby.

A number of publications carry quotes from Everton boss Marco Silva, who claimed the "fantastic" atmosphere inside Goodison Park acted as a 12th man for his team during a frenetic encounter.

The Daily Mirror cites Jordan Pickford's "game-defining" first-half save from Mohamed Salah as the contest's most "memorable" moment.

Seamus Coleman tells the Liverpool Echo it is essential for Everton to develop momentum after claiming four points in a week and insists the Blues will go all out for victory at Newcastle United on Saturday.

The Echo claims Silva's first home derby encounter represented a "significant afternoon" in the manager's embryonic reign.

The same paper says a raucous Goodison afternoon served to strengthen the bond between Evertonians and their players.

Lucas Digne's 'superb' performance received a nine-out-of-10 rating in the Daily Express, while the Daily Mail includes Idrissa Gana Gueye in its team of the week.

And the Mail's weekly Match of their Day feature recalls Everton's meeting with Leeds United on the opening day of 1990-91.
