What The Papers Say - January 31

Thursday’s Daily Mail reports Everton could make a deadline day move for Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi.

The paper states the transfer would have to be permanent, the Premier League rules stating that clubs cannot loan more than player from top-flight club at one time. The Toffees have already signed Kurt Zouma on loan from Chelsea this season.

The Daily Express suggests the Blues are interested in signing Lille’s Brazilian midfielder Thiago Mendes.

Idrissa Gana Gueye continues to be linked with a transfer to Paris St Germain, with the Daily Mail and Liverpool Echo reporting the French champions remain keen on bolstering their midfield options.

The Irish Independent, meanwhile, believes James McCarthy may be in line for a loan switch to Crystal Palace.
