Marco Silva says his Everton team must “show the quality we have already shown this season” as the Blues aim to kickstart a positive run of form.
The Portuguese is confident his players boast the talent and character to conjure up a series of performances reminiscent of their displays between September and November, when the Toffees racked up five wins and one draw in seven Premier League games.
Everton have since endured a difficult festive period – save for a stunning 5-1 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor – and were edged out by a stubborn Leicester City outfit at Goodison Park last time out.
Silva’s side will now aim to get back on track as they face successive home matches against Lincoln City and Bournemouth.
The boss declared the Blues’ resolve to reward the Evertonians loyal support by returning to winning ways.
“We want to play well, with intensity and enjoyment, give good feelings to our fans and achieve good results, because it is the most important thing in football," he said.
“In the last two games we haven’t shown the quality we have as a team and the quality we have already shown as a team.
“We have shown [this season] good performances, with good intensity and mobility. I have saw many moments during this season our players enjoy what we are doing on the pitch – and our fans the same. It is what we want to achieve again.”
In the New Year’s Day clash with Leicester, Everton fired in more than double the amount of shots than the visitors and dominated possession for large spells.
Boss Silva, however, has called on his team to rediscover the creative spark that was so evident during their impressive run earlier in the season.
“We know the last few results weren’t the best, and good results always increase confidence in the players,” he explained.
“We have to pass well and have mobility. When you don’t do that, it is impossible to find the creativity to make chances to score.
“It is our obligation, playing at home, to find these type of things.”
