Earlier this month, Goodison Park hosted a historic match as Gor Mahia FC became the first African club side to play in the UK.
The SportPesa Trophy ended in a 4-0 victory for Marco Silva’s Everton thanks to goals from Ademola Lookman, Kieran Dowell, Nathan Broadhead and Oumar Niasse but the game and visit to the UK was monumental for the Kenyan SportPesa Premier League champions - the same side Everton faced in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania in July 2017.
All proceeds from the match will go towards supporting Everton in the Community’s pioneering work across Merseyside - work witnessed first hand by the Gor Mahia players during their stay.
Global gaming giant SportPesa is the Main Principal Partner of Everton Football Club. The company has grown dramatically since its inception in 2014 and quickly established itself as a significant investor and operator in the online gaming industry, as well as setting up its European HQ in Liverpool.
As Africa’s leading sports gaming platform, SportPesa has acquired the status of a ‘super brand’ on the continent and is changing lives by accelerating development through sports and well-structured community initiatives.
