Richarlison Heads Brilliant Winner As Brazil Beat Cameroon

Richarlison powered home a brilliant header as Brazil beat Cameroon 1-0 in Milton Keynes on Tuesday night.

The Everton forward started the friendly international on the bench but was brought on after just eight minutes when close friend Neymar was forced off with a groin injury.

And after his clipped cross almost set up Roberto Firmino for Brazil’s opener, Richarlison rose highest to emphatically head in Willian’s corner, leaving Cameroon 'keeper André Onana grasping at thin air.

The goal was the 21-year-old’s third for his country in what was just his sixth international appearance, and proved to be decisive as Tite's side edged out the Africa Cup Of Nations holders.

Richarlison has now struck nine times in 17 games for club and country this season.

Elsewhere, Dominic Calvert-Lewin came off the bench to hit a brace as England Under-21s romped to a 5-1 victory over Denmark in Esbjerg.

The Everton striker netted the young Lions’ fourth and fifth goals in the friendly international after replacing Manchester City playmaker Phil Foden with half an hour to play.

First, he tapped home after good work from Arsenal forward Reiss Nelson on 81 minutes, before winning and converting a penalty five minutes later to complete the scoring.

Kieran Dowell played 90 minutes for Aidy Boothroyd’s side and, after Demarai Gray put England ahead, the Everton Academy graduate set up England’s second of the night.

His sumptuous delivery was headed in by Dominic Solanke, who also bagged the young Lions’ third goal.

Tom Davies was introduced as a 72nd-minute substitute for England, coming on for Bournemouth midfielder Lewis Cook.

Cenk Tosun, meanwhile, won his 34th international cap as Turkey were held to a 0-0 draw by Ukraine.

Substitute Tosun played the full second half in Antalya but Mircea Lucescu’s side could not break down a stubborn Ukraine outfit.
