What The Papers Say - November 5

Richarlison is backed to continue to thrive at centre-forward in Monday’s Daily Mail, with former England midfielder Jamie Redknapp detailing how the Brazilian’s qualities mean he is ideally suited to the role.

The 21-year-old netted twice in Everton's 3-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday to take his goalscoring tally to six already for the season.

"He is strong in the air and has a good blend of pace and physicality,” Redknapp said. “Think of Cristiano Ronaldo and Thierry Henry.

"They started as wide men before moving into the middle. Richarlison has all the attributes to do the same.”

The Liverpool Echo analyses the impressive start Lucas Digne has made to his Everton career.

The local read highlights how the Frenchman has proved a key creative force for the Toffees. Digne has fashioned 18 goalscoring chances for his teammates this season, only Gylfi Sigurdsson boasts a higher total in the Everton team.

Seamus Coleman also features in the Echo, with the Irishman explaining how his “hard work paid off” after scoring for the Blues in Saturday’s victory over Brighton.

The goal was Coleman’s first for Everton since January 2017, having been sidelined for 10 months after breaking his leg during international duty with the Republic of Ireland.

He said: “The only way you can keep going is keep battling, keep doing the right things, keep working hard in training, keep listening to the manager, and your luck will turn around and that happened to me."

Coleman also looked ahead to Everton’s SportPesa Trophy clash with Gor Mahia at Goodison Park on Tuesday night, emphasising it is an opportunity for the Kenyan champions’ players to “make a name for themselves”.

“This is an opportunity for the team to show their worth because you never know who is watching and you never know the opportunities that come from this game,” he said.
