The game is simple – it’s your dream weekend away from football and you decide everything.
Everton Ladies striker Simone Magill recently sat down to play Perfect Weekend, choosing everything from destination, what she would do, where she would stay and more...
I have always wanted to go to California and travel down Route 66 in the US. Its right up there on my bucket list. I’m eyeing it up for next summer.
Probably a hotel – I wouldn’t rough it! I’m not picky to be honest. I went to Thailand and I did a little bit of both. I did the whole cultural thing by going backpacking but then at the same time, I wanted a nice bed as well! So just a standard hotel will be fine on this trip.
I would have to say Mark, my boyfriend. I’d also take our group of friends from university. There are four or five us who are close so they would make it a great trip.
I’m not the best driver but the dream has always been an open-top Mustang. Bit of an upgrade from my Fiat! I’m not big on my cars but there is something cool about a Mustang.
It has to be warm and sunny. I hate anything cold or wet. T-shirt weather.
Most of my books are academic because I’ve been studying loads for the last few years. But I have read a few autobiographies as well like Sir Alex Ferguson and Rio Ferdinand. I like reading about true events. I’m not having the made-up stuff – I hate all that!
My most used app is Instagram. I could delete every other social media app on my phone and just be happy with that one.
I have always wanted to meet David Beckham. He was my idol as a kid. I’m not sure I would have him at dinner though – can’t imagine his banter is the best! Maybe we’ll go for a quick drink after and chat about football.
Steak. It’s my go-to when I’m in a restaurant. Bit of peppercorn sauce, little mash potato on the side – it would be a mis-steak not to!
We’d have to make a detour to the Grand Canyon. That’s on the bucket list too. It looks unreal. Or do I take a helicopter over it? That would be pretty special.
I’ve always wanted to go to Glastonbury but with my football commitments it has been hard to get to it. So if this is my dream weekend I’ll move it to California for a one-off.
I have always wanted to go to an NBA game. It looks cool and it’s something a bit different. I couldn’t tell you the name of a team though! I just want to go and experience it. Americans are crazy so I think it would be fun. I’d go to a baseball game as well.
Does your dog count? I have to take Chester on this trip. I miss him so much when I’m away.
Watch Simone and the rest of the Everton Ladies as they take on West Ham United Women at Southport on Sunday, kick-off 2pm. Tickets available online here.
