Monday’s edition of the Liverpool Echo highlights the performances of Idrissa Gana Gueye and Gylfi Sigurdsson in Everton’s 3-0 win over Fulham on Saturday.
Senegal international Gana was a constant thorn in the Cottagers’ side as he made nine tackles to help stop the visitors mounting regular attacks towards the home goal at Goodison Park.
Meanwhile, Sigurdsson’s brace – netted either side of Cenk Tosun’s first goal of the campaign – helped the Blues to three points and the Echo features quotes from boss Marco Silva on how many goals he hopes his number 10 can score this season.
The Iceland midfielder himself tells the local read that he is enjoying Silva’s playing style but that thoughts of European football next season are premature, with the Toffees’ focus solely “on winning games and not looking too far ahead”.
The Daily Mail looks at Sigurdsson’s character after he missed a penalty against Fulham only to bounce back in style with his pair of fine strikes, with Silva praising the midfielder’s work rate.
