Tosun On Thriving With Everton's Attacking Talents

Cenk Tosun insists the Blues' array of attacking talents are “perfect” to play alongside as he declared his determination to stay on the goal trail after netting his first of the season on Saturday.

The Turkey striker opened his account for the campaign in Everton’s 3-0 win over Fulham at Goodison Park, as the Toffees swept aside Slavisa Jokanovic’s team in a commanding second-half display.

Tosun came on as a 55th-minute substitute, with the game still firmly in the balance at 0-0.

The Blues struck soon after his introduction - Gylfi Sigurdsson's sweetly-struck effort breaking the deadlock – before Tosun got on the scoresheet just 10 minutes later.

After a driving run down the right from Theo Walcott, the flying winger picked out the Turk who powered home a header to double Everton’s lead.

Sigurdsson then rolled home Everton’s third in the closing stages to seal the points.

Tosun says he is relishing playing alongside players of such ability and declared his resolve to build on his goal against the Cottagers.

“It’s perfect to play with players like Theo, Gylfi and Richarlison,” he told evertontv. “We know each other better and now and have played together since the season started. Theo had the ball on the line and I knew he would cross to the back post, so that’s why I ran there. It was a nice cross for him and I want to thank him.

“Straight after I came on, we scored the first goal and then a few minutes later I scored the second one. I was so happy to score for the team - it was my first goal [of the season] and I hope I will score next week as well.

“We played the first three games good and then the next two games not so good. I felt good on the pitch. I couldn’t score [in those games] so I had to wait now for my chance again - and this was the game. It’s perfect for a striker if you can come on and change everything.

“We played good in the second half. The first half was not the best but we showed the people that we are a really good team at home and I want to thank all the supporters who came today and shouted for us.”

With his confidence buoyed by the goal, Tosun believes he will go from strength to strength this season.

He says he is already champing at the bit for Tuesday’s Carabao Cup clash with Southampton under the lights at the Grand Old Lady.

“It is perfect for my confidence because as a striker, if you score, you play the next game better and with more belief,” he said. “In front of the goal, you are calmer.

“We have a cup game on Tuesday and I am very excited to play again at Goodison Park in front of our fans. I will wait for my chance and when the gaffer will give it to me I will do everything for the goal.”
