Theo Walcott has likened Everton boss Marco Silva to Arsene Wenger in Friday’s edition of the Liverpool Echo.

The Blues winger worked under the former Arsenal boss during his time as a Gunner and has seen similarities in the type of football encouraged by the two managers.

Former Toffees captain Kevin Ratcliffe writes in his Echo column that he is a fan of Silva’s brand of football but wants to see more from the Blues in defence.

Everton Under-23s’ 2-2 draw with Brighton in the Premier League International Cup is reported on, while Cenk Tosun has declared he will do all he can to return to goalscoring ways.

And the Echo also looks at potential new recruits for January including Germany striker Timo Werner, Watford skipper Troy Deeney and Lacina Traore.
