What The Papers Say - August 18

Saturday’s Liverpool Echo says Everton boss Marco Silva could be ready to hand deadline day arrivals Bernard and Kurt Zouma their Blues debuts against Southampton this afternoon.

The paper claims the Portuguese “hinted” at possible involvement for the duo at his press conference on Friday, where he also explained why fellow new signings Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes will miss the visit of the Saints.

Silva is quoted in the Daily Mail and Daily Telegraph saying he will insist his Everton players speak English around the Club’s USM Finch Farm training ground at all times in order to ensure the best possible team spirit.

The Echo reports the news defender Cuco Martina has joined Stoke City on a season-long loan, and also looks at why Mark Hughes’ Southampton should be “scared of facing Silva’s feel-good Everton at Goodison Park”.
