Monday’s national newspapers report Everton are closing in on a deal for Barcelona defender Yerry Mina.

The Daily Mirror, Independent and Daily Mail suggest the Blues have agreed a fee for the Colombian centre-back, while The Guardian and Liverpool Echo carry quotes from Toffees boss Marco Silva, who admitted he wants to bolster his defensive options after Saturday's pre-season friendly defeat against Valencia.

Elsewhere, Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp has selected new Everton arrival Richarlison as one of his ‘10 players to watch this season’.

Writing in the Daily Mail, the former England midfielder said: “When I first saw him play for Watford, he was the closest I have seen to a young Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I’m not saying that he’s as good as the five-time Champions League winner. But I see in Richarlison the same attributes the 19-year-old Ronaldo possessed when I played against him. The Brazilian has blistering pace, is good in the air and loves to take on players.”
