Williams Heads To Stoke City On Loan

Everton defender Ashley Williams has completed a season-long loan move to Stoke City.

The Wales international captain has played 73 matches and scored three goals for the Blues since his transfer from Swansea City in summer 2016.

Centre-back Williams arrived at Goodison Park shortly after skippering Wales to the semi-finals of the 2016 European Championship in France.

He started 35 Premier League matches in his debut Everton season, helping the Toffees record 13 clean sheets.

Williams, who will turn 34 later this month, made 24 top-flight appearances last term and had a further eight outings in the Europa League.

He joins a Stoke City team which is preparing for its bid to secure an instant Premier League return following relegation last season and could potentially make his debut in the Potters’ Championship game at Leeds United on Sunday.
