Richarlison Out To Make Dreams A Reality With Everton

Richarlison has emphasised his ambition and desire to try to make history with Everton after completing his move from Watford and signing a five-year deal to the end of June 2023.

The gifted Brazilian attacker becomes Marco Silva’s first signing as Blues manager and he believes that the Portuguese can help his “dreams to become a reality here at one of the biggest clubs in England”.

Silva was responsible for bringing Richarlison to England from Fluminense in August 2017 where the Brazil Under 20 international established himself with the powerhouse Rio de Janeiro-based club as one of his country’s brightest young talents.

Richarlison told evertontv: “I want to have a lot of success with Everton. I think it is going to be important for me here to be with Marco Silva again. I will learn more because I am still learning as a player and I aim to develop and grow here.

“Everton have put their faith in me and I intend to honour this shirt and demonstrate on the pitch why I came here.

“I’ve known the manager for a while obviously, so I know how he works.

“I developed really well with him while he was with me at Watford. It was really good working with him and one day I believe he can help me to be selected for Brazil in the full national team.

“But that is for the future and my present is here with Everton. I want my dreams to become a reality here at one of the biggest clubs in England.”

Richarlison swiftly adapted to Premier League football last season, scoring on his full debut for the Hornets in a 2-0 victory at Bournemouth and winning rave reviews for a sequence of assertive and vibrant performances.

The versatile forward struck five times in his first 11 top-flight starts and contributed three assists during the same period, propelling Watford to within three points of the Champions League spot.

Richarlison added: “I want to score more goals, provide more assists for my teammates and help in whichever way is possible.

“Everyone in the world knows Everton. It is a very big club, one of the biggest in England as I said. I am really happy and honoured to be here.”

Everton boss Silva believes Richarlison’s range of attributes and fierce work ethic will make him a perfect fit for the Club.

“He is one more player who can help us,” Silva said of his first Toffees signing. “He is a good player who will make our team and our squad more competitive.

“The competition between our players is really important to me. This is what will make us better as a club, always that competition within the squad.

“The player himself is fast, strong, very good technically and he can play in three positions across the front line. He can also score goals.

“Evertonians will see a player who will be 100 per cent committed to helping our team always.”

Richarlison launched his professional career with America Mineiro as a 17-year-old in December 2014 before signing for four-times Brazilian champions Fluminense 12 months later.

His speed, skill and physicality ensured he quickly became one of Fluminense’s most influential players, leading manager Abel Braga to describe him as “a complete player”.

Richarlison was raised in the Brazilian municipality of Nova Venecia and left his homeland for Watford after scoring 19 goals in 67 matches for Fluminense.

He has been capped 10 times by his country’s Under-20 team and scored on his international debut against England at St George’s Park in September 2016.
