Sigurdsson And Gana Back At Everton After World Cup

Gylfi Sigurdsson and Idrissa Gana Gueye have travelled with the Everton squad to Portugal for the Algarve Football Cup, having returned to USM Finch Farm on Thursday after representing their respective countries at the World Cup.

Iceland playmaker Sigurdsson and dynamic Senegalese midfielder Gana played every minute of their nations’ games at the summer showpiece in Russia.

The return of Sigurdsson will be a significant boost for the Blues. The Club-record signing played his last game for Everton back on March 10 when he suffered a knee injury in the clash with Brighton & Hove Albion at Goodison Park.

The 28-year-old made 33 appearances in his debut season at Everton, scoring six goals.

Gana, meanwhile, will be determined to build on a 2017/18 campaign which saw him make second-highest number of tackles (117) of any Premier League player.

Since signing from Aston Villa in 2016 the midfielder, also 28, has made 73 appearances for the Blues and scored four goals

Everton face Ligue 1 side Lille on Saturday, before taking on Portuguese champions FC Porto on Sunday (both 8pm kick-offs).
