Gabby George and Simone Magill say they cannot wait to debut Everton’s new 2018/19 away kit on Sunday - and hopes fans will flock to the Marine Travel Arena to catch a first glimpse of the latest Umbro offering in action.
Everton Ladies launched the Club’s new carbon and ‘glo pink’ strip on Thursday morning in what was a Premier League first.
The Blue Girls will also be the first team to wear the kit when they tackle fiercest rivals Liverpool in their opening pre-season friendly of the summer this weekend.
“I think it’s a great opportunity for us and just shows the one club philosophy we have here at Everton,” said George.
“It will be a good chance for the fans to come down and see the kit in person and see us play a game in it.
“It’s the first time a Premier League club has done this [launched a kit with their Ladies team] and now we get to wear it first as well.”
Tickets for Sunday's fixture are priced at just £3
, with kick-off at 2pm.
The men’s team will then don the kit for the first time on Sunday evening when they kick off their Algarve Football Cup clash with Porto at 8pm (BST).
Like George, Magill hopes a bumper crowd turns out in Crosby for what promises to be a competitive start to the Blue Girls' WSL 1 preparations.
“There’s no such word as a friendly when you’re playing Liverpool so if we can encourage as many people as possible to come down and support us and get behind us, that’s fantastic,” she said.
“I really like the kit. It’s something different for us, I think all the girls will really love it, and I can’t wait to wear it.
“It definitely shows how far the women’s game has grown and it’s great that the Club really buys into us and include us in things like this.
“For the girls, it’s just really important and it shows the one club philosophy that we have here at Everton.”
