Blues Arrive In Austria For Pre-Season Training Camp

Everton’s first-team squad have arrived in Austria to begin a week-long pre-season training camp.

Manager Marco Silva, his backroom staff and the players will have a base in central Austria to step up their preparations for the new Premier League season.

The training camp will culminate in Everton’s first pre-season friendly of the summer, which is against local Austrian side ATV Irdning on Saturday, July 16, at the ATV Riesneralm Arena (5pm kick-off local time, 4pm UK).

The Blues will then return to Merseyside, with further friendlies against Bury, Lille, FC Porto, Blackburn Rovers and Valencia all scheduled before the Premier League opener against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, August 11.

Due to its altitude in the Alps and its excellent sports facilities, central Austria is a popular training destination for football teams.

Real Madrid, AS Roma and VfB Stuttgart have all used facilities in the area in recent years, while the England national team were based there in preparation for the 2010 World Cup which was held in South Africa.

The evertontv cameras have travelled with the squad, so look out for behind-the-scenes footage from the Blues’ training base, here on evertonfc.com and the Club’s official social media channels. There will also be interviews, photography and video features throughout the course of the week, including an exclusive interview with Everton boss Marco Silva for Members.
