Dominique Bruinenberg hopes to “play her part in helping to build Everton” after becoming the Ladies’ second summer signing.
The Dutch midfielder joins the Blue Girls after spending the past 18 months with WSL 1 rivals Sunderland, linking up with the Black Cats prior to the 2017 Spring Series.
Bruinenberg came through the ranks at SC Telstar back in her homeland before a short spell at Den Haag. After moving to Italian side Verona, she featured in the Champions League during the 2016/17 campaign.
A former Dutch youth international, she made 25 appearances in all competitions for Sunderland last season, scoring five goals.
Now at Everton, the 25-year-old hopes to help the Club continue to build off the back of their first season back in the top flight.
“I am really happy to be here,” she told evertonfc.com. “For me, it is a step higher after last season and I am really excited to be at Everton.
“The Club is still building. It is a young squad but the way they have started since coming up to WSL 1, there is lots to gain. Everton competed really well with all of the sides in the league last season. I think it can only get better for us.
“I am very excited to be here now and play my part in that.
“I would say I am a technically strong player. I am able to play those passes that put a teammate one-on-one with the goalkeeper. I can score some goals myself so hopefully I can add that value to the team.”
Bruinenberg, who joins compatriot Inessa Kaagman in making the switch to Everton this summer, admitted the move to Merseyside came about quickly.
But having met several of her new teammates already, she says the Club is already starting to feel like home.
“The move was first mentioned last week and that made me excited,” she added. “I had to stay calm because you never know how these things go but I am so happy it is all done now.
“It has all happened so quickly. [After leaving Sunderland] I was thinking about where to go next but as soon as Everton’s offer came in I thought that it was the right one.
“I have met some of the girls and they are really nice and made me feel really welcome. I felt at home straight away.”
