Davies Nominated For Golden Boy Award

Tom Davies has been nominated for the prestigious Golden Boy award, which recognises Europe’s most promising footballers under the age of 21.

Dynamic midfielder Davies – who celebrated his 20th birthday on Saturday – is on a 100-strong shortlist for the prize.

Run by Italian newspaper Tuttosport, the annual award is voted for by a panel of 30 sports journalists.

After his impressive breakthrough campaign in 2016/17, the West Derby-born youngster established himself as a regular in the first-team set-up last season as he made 43 appearances.

The Academy graduate has now featured 70 times in total for the Blues.

Previous winners of the Golden Boy award include Wayne Rooney and Lionel Messi, while France forward Kylian Mbappe won the prize last year.
