What The Papers Say - 28 June

Everton are rumoured to be mulling over a move for Middlesbrough centre-back Ben Gibson in Thursday’s edition of the Daily Mirror.

With Boro snapping up Bristol City defender Aiden Flint on Wednesday, the paper suggests that could clear the way for Gibson to make a return to the Premier League, with Southampton also said to be interested in a move alongside the Blues.

The same paper also speculates that Croatia forward Ante Rebic, who plied his trade at German club Frankfurt on loan from Fiorentina last season, is a Toffees target after his heroics out in Russia at the World Cup.

The Liverpool Echo looks at Marco Silva’s previous visits to Goodison Park as the away manager with both Hull City and Watford, and also assesses why the Portuguese will be looking to make the right first signing into his reign as Everton boss.
