What The Papers Say - 12 June

Plenty of Everton incomings and outgoings are rumoured in Tuesday’s newspapers.

The Daily Mirror, Washington Times and Liverpool Echo believe Wayne Rooney is closing in on a move to DC United, with the latter suggesting Norwich City’s England Under-21 star James Maddison could replace him.

The Echo also speculates that goalkeeper Jordan Pickford could be a target for Manchester United, and look into how Marcel Brands utilised the South American and Central American markets for players while at former club PSV Eindhoven.

The Toffees are said to have cooled their interest in Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles in the Northern Echo, with a view to bringing in Middlesbrough centre-back Ben Gibson.

Meanwhile, Alan Stubbs tells the Daily Record why Everton could shape his transfer plans after the former Blues Under-21s coach took charge at Scottish Premiership club St Mirren.
