What The Papers Say - 6 April

Friday's Liverpool Echo carries quotes from the Club's newly-appointed international ambassador Steven Pienaar, who says Evertonians have a "big part to play" in tomorrow's Merseyside derby at Goodison Park – and the supporters' "positive energy" can transfer to the players on the pitch.

Two current Everton players are featured in the Echo, with skipper Phil Jagielka saying the Blues want to put on a display for their fans against the Reds and Jordan Pickford insisting his side "must give everything" in pursuit of victory over their city rivals.

Also in the local paper, it is reported that Everton are on course to better last year's record season ticket sales.

Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen has pinpointed Idrissa Gana Gueye as the Blues' key figure in the 231st derby clash – if the Senegalese midfielder is fit to play following a muscle injury.
