Kanchelskis' Pride At Son's Love For Everton

He may have only spent two seasons at Goodison Park but Andrei Kanchelskis certainly left his mark.

Who will ever forget his two goals against Liverpool in front of the Kop? Or a debut campaign that brought 16 league goals in just 32 appearances?

In terms of a legacy, however, his contribution to the Everton family extended way beyond the pitch.

His father played for a handful of illustrious clubs including the Blues, Manchester United, Fiorentina and Glasgow Rangers during a stellar 18-year career, but it was Everton that Andrei's young son, Andrei Jnr, elected to support.

Fast-forward two decades and Junior is still a regular visitor to Goodison Park, and frequently takes to social media to declare his love for the Blues.

“My son is a big fan of Everton,” confirmed Andrei Snr when he sat down to talk to evertontv all about his memories of Goodison Park. “He loves Everton, he has a tattoo of Everton, he is always speaking about Everton and always watching the games when Everton play.

“He comes to Liverpool to watch the games here in the stadium, he has a lot of friends here - he is a big, big, massive fan of Everton.

“I’m very, very pleased that my son is interested in football and interested in Everton Football Club - it’s important to me. I never said to him, ‘support Everton’. It was a choice for Andrei.”
